“I’ve loved water all my life — as a swimmer, windsurfer, kayaker and diver. Water brings and nourishes life, it is essential and elemental. Watching a river flow can be like watching poetry in motion. As a conservationist and Hood River City Council member, I’ve seen firsthand how smart water policies can make a huge difference for communities in the Columbia River Gorge.
The City of Hood River has recently constructed a new 24-inch diameter water line that travels 20 miles from pristine springs high in the Cascade Mountains to supply residents with clean, pure water. Each year the City issues a Water Quality Report, and the Hood River Watershed Group is one of the top watershed councils in the state. Together these efforts work to benefit water and natural resources for all across the Hood River Valley.”
